Star Wars was the first major licensing agreement signed by SMS Audio. The launch of franchise-themed execution on a premium product had not been tried before. The initial run of the first edition was modest with sales forecasts still a mystery. The product eventually was a huge success, leading to two more Edition designs. The designs of the headphones had already been finalized and the project was on hold when I joined SMS. When the project was restarted I was responsible for the package design and the design of the accessories. I digitally illustrated a poster for each theme using materials approved by Lucas. Corrugate displays were big enough to include entire First and Second Editions of the Star Wars headphones.
Numerous PoP displays were designed and created for various resellers.
We used several unique offers to illicit pre-orders of the products. On one occasion we created special edition t-shirts, and on another premium printed promotional items.
